Plateau United fans will get the opportunity to watch the club’s first home match of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season for free after the new Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Prince Miaphen, announced an initiative to cover the cost of match tickets.
The Peace Boys will host Kwara United on Sunday, September 6, at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos, in their first home fixture of the new NPFL campaign.
The initiative followed a meeting between the Commissioner and the management of Plateau United, led by Barrister Gideon Atu Izang, where preparations for the club’s opening home league fixture were discussed.
According to Comrade Miaphen, his Ministry, in conjunction with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, will purchase the match tickets to allow supporters attend the fixture at no cost.
The move is aimed at mobilising strong home support for Plateau United as the Peace Boys look to bounce back from their opening-day defeat to Rivers United.
Plateau United lost 2-0 away to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt last Sunday.
The Peace Boys will now return to Jos in search of their first points of the season when they face Kwara United.
The Commissioner called on football lovers across Plateau State to come out in large numbers and cheer the team, describing the initiative as part of the state government’s commitment to supporting Plateau United and creating a strong home atmosphere.
With admission covered, supporters have been urged to fill the Zaria Road Stadium and get behind the Peace Boys as they begin their home campaign.
