City Boy Movement leaders paid a courtesy visit to Plateau State’s Governor, His Excellency Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq.
At New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, Moreover, it advances grassroots collaboration and youth mobilization ahead of 2027 elections.
Led by the City Boy Movement’s Director-General, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, the delegation included APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. Additionally, the North Central Coordinator, Ambassador Abdul Fatah Yaya Seriki, and other national and state leaders were present.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, APC National Chairman, commended Governor Mutfwang for personally receiving the delegation. Moreover, he described Mutfwang’s decision to engage the movement as evidence of his commitment to political organization and stakeholder engagement.
Yilwatda said the movement had an important role to play in communicating the policies and achievements.
Moreover, it communicates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to young Nigerians.
It also mobilizes beyond social media to communities.
“Get involved. Engage the people and empower them. That will be a major turnaround for us as a party. You are an anchor and pathfinders; you are pivotal to the votes we will harvest among the young. While you promote the City Boy Movement, I want to see the party logo on all you are doing. Make it more prominent, because on election day nobody sees City Boy Movement; people see the APC.”
In response, Governor Mutfwang said the visit was significant.
Moreover, the movement represents a new dimension of support-group engagement, with an emphasis on youth participation and empowerment.
He disclosed that he had previously engaged with Hon. Seyi Tinubu to better understand the movement’s philosophy.
Governor Mutfwang also said his support for the President was based on his understanding of the President’s vision for Nigeria. Moreover, he added that the 2027 election would require political actors to communicate directly and respectfully with citizens. “If we are going to get people to get involved, it’s not going to be by showmanship. It’s not going to be by arrogance. It’s going to be by deliberate engagement.”
The Governor acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians. Moreover, he argued the Federal Government’s reforms should be explained to citizens within the Tinubu administration’s inherited economic context.
Don’t go where the President is popular. Go where the President is not as popular. Additionally, try to convince them to come on board. Carve a niche for yourselves.
The Governor advocated grassroots collaboration through greater use of town-hall meetings. Moreover, he argued that citizens needed opportunities to understand government policies and ask questions. People want information. People want to be carried along.
Previously, Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, said the movement was established to promote youth participation.
Moreover, it aims to engage Nigerians at the grassroots ahead of 2027.
To extend Renewed Hope, we will reach the people across the 17 Local Government Areas, wards, communities, and polling units. Additionally, we will encourage young Nigerians to become active participants in the democratic process.
