The Sporting Director of Plateau United Football Club, Gideon Izang Esq., has expressed profound appreciation to the club’s supporters for their unwavering support during Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Shooting Stars of Ibadan in a Matchday 4 encounter of the EUROMATCH NPFL.
Plateau United found themselves behind in the first half after Shooting Stars took the lead, but the Jos-based side produced a spirited second-half comeback, scoring three goals to secure all three points at the Jos Zaria Road Stadium.
Izang, while commending the supporters for staying behind the team throughout the encounter, particularly praised them for maintaining their belief even when Plateau United were trailing.
He said the response of the fans demonstrated the special bond between the team and its supporters, stressing that their encouragement played an important role in helping the players remain motivated to fight back.
“We want to sincerely thank our supporters for their incredible support. Even when we were one goal down in the first half, they did not abandon the team. They continued to encourage the players and kept believing in us.»
“That is the kind of support we need. You are our 12th man, and your presence, encouragement and belief give the players additional strength on the pitch.”
The Sporting Director said the victory was a collective achievement involving the players, technical crew, management and supporters, adding that the team would continue to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in it by the people of Plateau State.
Izang also urged the fans to maintain the same spirit throughout the season, regardless of the result in any particular match.
“Football will always have its ups and downs. There will be difficult moments, but we need our supporters to continue standing with the team. Your support matters tremendously to us.
“We appreciate you, and we want you to know that you are an important part of this team. Together, we will continue to fight for Plateau United,” he added.
The 3-1 victory over Shooting Stars marked a strong response from Plateau United after the team had returned from Minna with a 1-1 draw against Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 3.
