The Sporting Director of Plateau United Football Club, Barrister Gideon Izang, has assured the club’s supporters and stakeholders of the team’s readiness to mount a strong challenge for honours in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Barrister Izang gave the assurance following Plateau United’s participation in the maiden NPFL Super 6 Pre-Season Tournament, where the Peace Boys reached the final but narrowly lost 1-0 to Rangers.
According to the Sporting Director, the tournament provided the technical crew and players with a valuable opportunity to assess their level of preparedness ahead of the new season.
“Although we would have loved to win the trophy, reaching the final of the maiden NPFL Super 6 Pre-Season Tournament was an important part of our preparation for the new season. We have taken note of the positives and the areas where we need to improve, and we are confident that the team is ready for the challenges ahead,” Izang stated.
He said Plateau United would approach the new NPFL campaign with determination and ambition, adding that the club has its sights firmly set on challenging for the league title.
“Our objective is clear. Plateau United is a club with a proud history, passionate supporters and great expectations. We are going into the 2026/27 season determined to compete strongly and challenge for the NPFL title.
“The players, technical crew and management understand what is expected of us. We know that it will be a long and difficult season, but we believe in the quality, character and commitment within this team.”
Plateau United will begin their 2026/27 NPFL campaign this weekend with an away fixture against Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
Izang, however, appealed to the club’s supporters to remain united and continue to stand firmly behind the team throughout the season.
“To our wonderful fans, I want to assure you that your support means everything to this club. Football is a journey with its challenges, and we will need your encouragement, patience and prayers every step of the way.
“Stand with the team, believe in the players and continue to be the driving force behind Plateau United. Together, we can achieve great things and make the 2026/27 season one to remember.”
Barrister Izang also expressed appreciation to the Plateau State Government and Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for their continued support for sports and Plateau United, assuring that the team would strive to make the state proud.
