NPFL Super Six: Four Semi-Finalists Confirmed, But What Happens Next?

The four semi-finalists of the 2026 NPFL Super Six Invitational Pre-Season Tournament have now been confirmed, but the final group-stage fixtures on Friday will determine who finishes top of each group and, more importantly, the semi-final pairings.

Plateau United, Rangers International, Mighty Jets FC and Katsina United have all secured their places in the last four.

In Group A, Plateau United and Rangers International are currently level on three points. Plateau United opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Rivers United, while Rangers were awarded a 3-0 walkover after Rivers United failed to honour their scheduled fixture.

Rangers therefore currently lead the group on goal difference.

The two sides will meet on Friday at 4pm in what will effectively be a battle for top spot.

A Rangers victory will see them finish first, while a Plateau United win will send the hosts to the top. A draw will favour Rangers, who currently have the superior goal difference.

The situation is similar in Group B, where Katsina United and Mighty Jets have both secured three points and qualified for the semi-finals.

Katsina United currently lead the group on goal difference after defeating El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0, while Mighty Jets recorded a 1-0 victory over the same opponents on Matchday One.

Mighty Jets and Katsina United will face each other at 2pm on Friday, with top spot in Group B at stake.

Under the tournament regulations, the winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group B in the semi-finals, while the winner of Group B will face the runner-up of Group A.

This means Friday’s matches will not determine who reaches the semi-finals, but they will determine who faces whom in the last four.

Friday’s Final Group Games

Mighty Jets FC vs Katsina United — 2pm

Plateau United FC vs Rangers International — 4pm

With all four semi-finalists already confirmed, the battle for top spot now takes centre stage tomorrow at the Jos New Stadium.
