NPFL: Plateau United Seek Home Revival Against Warri Wolves

Plateau United will have an opportunity to get their NPFL campaign back on track when they host Warri Wolves in a Matchday 11 encounter at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, November 1.

The Peace Boys go into the fixture looking to put their recent disappointments behind them after taking just one point from their last two matches. A 3-2 home defeat to Sporting Lagos was followed by a 2-2 draw away to Katsina United, where they surrendered a two-goal advantage in the closing stages.

Those results have left Gbenga Ogunbote’s side eager for a response in front of their supporters, particularly as they look to maintain their position among the league’s top four.

Plateau United currently sit fourth with 15 points from 10 matches, three points ahead of Sunday’s visitors, who occupy 14th position with 12 points.

Despite their recent struggles, the hosts have demonstrated considerable attacking strength this season. Their 17 goals in 10 matches include an emphatic 4-0 victory over Kano Pillars, but defensive lapses have become a concern, especially after their late collapse in Katsina.

Warri Wolves arrive in Jos with their own challenges, having recorded just one win in their last five league matches. The Seasiders have drawn their last two games against Kano Pillars and Enyimba, both ending goalless, after beating Inter Lagos 3-1. They also suffered defeats to Doma United and Rangers International during that run.

While their attacking output has been limited, Warri Wolves have shown greater resilience defensively. They have scored only six goals in 10 matches, the lowest tally among the teams in the current standings, but have conceded just seven.

That record could make Sunday’s encounter a difficult one for Plateau United, who may need patience and creativity to find openings against a side that has kept consecutive clean sheets.

The Peace Boys can, however, take encouragement from their recent home record against Warri Wolves. Plateau United won their last meeting in Jos 1-0 on December 7, 2025, while an earlier home encounter in June 2021 ended in a 2-0 victory.

Warri Wolves claimed a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture on May 3, 2026, and will have the opportunity to complete a league double if they secure another victory on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Plateau United have received a potential boost ahead of the game, with Seiyefa Jackson and Vangsou resuming training. Both players are still working towards full fitness, and their availability will depend on their progress before kick-off.

Victor Dawa and Jibril Ibrahim are expected to remain important attacking outlets for the hosts as they seek to rediscover their winning touch. Their ability to create and convert chances could be decisive against a Warri Wolves side that has been difficult to break down in recent outings.

For Ogunbote, the challenge will be ensuring that his side combines its attacking quality with improved defensive concentration. After dropping points from a winning position against Katsina United, Plateau United cannot afford another lapse if they are to claim maximum points.

A victory would take the Peace Boys to 18 points and strengthen their position in the top four. More importantly, it would provide the response their supporters will be hoping for after two frustrating results.
