The Plateau State Government has refuted claims by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) that it defaulted on the statutory deadline for submitting its 2024 audited financial statements.
In a statement signed by the Accountant-General, Naanret Asabe Manset, the government explained that the financial statements were duly submitted to the Auditor-General in May 2025, audited and transmitted to the State House of Assembly in June 2025, approved by lawmakers, and published online on July 30, 2025 all within the nine-month legal timeframe.
The Accountant-General called on FIJ to correct its report and remove Plateau State from the list of non-compliant states, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and timely financial disclosure.
