Plateau State NG-CARES Training: Governor Mutfwang’s Leadership Delivers Training on Grievance Management, Gender-Based Violence Prevention

Plateau State demonstrated its commitment to community development through Plateau State NG-Cares Training. It is a strategic capacity-building training held at Valada Hotel, Jos, on July 1st, 2025. The event brought together key stakeholders, expert facilitators, and field officers. The essense was to strengthen the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program implementation.


Governor Mutfwang’s Vision in Action


Governor Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s support for the poor and vulnerable has driven NG-CARES success in Plateau State. Through timely fund releases, the Governor has ensured consistent program implementation, earning the state recognition as one of the top three performers nationally.

Architect Samuel N. Jatau, Secretary to the Government, representing the Governor, emphasized: “Since the inception of this government, all donor-funded programs were profiled to enable us deepen our interventions for high performance.”

The training featured prominent leaders championing the NG-CARES initiative. Dr. Grace Dungung, Chairperson of the State Coordinating Steering Committee, has provided exceptional leadership in steering the program’s direction. Dr. Haggai Gutap, Head of the State Coordinating Unit, declared: “Plateau is ready. We are emotionally ready. Our documents, everything, is intact for 2.0.”
Hon. Regina Soemlat, Commissioner of Finance, stressed that “capacity building is essential for growth at every level.”

The Plateau State NG-CARES Training benefited from specialized facilitators.

Barr. Hannatu Dauda Simon led the “Legal Framework Supporting Grievance Mechanism” module, while Eniola Kehinde delivered the “NG-CARES Programme General Overview.” Aishatu Abdullahi facilitated the critical “Sex and Gender” module for gender-based violence prevention.

Field officers praised the training’s practical value. Hulda Titus Sukumkya from Fukanam Local Government explained: “This training helps us understand how to manage grievances in the field. It’s like a manual on how to handle these grievances affecting our beneficiaries.”

The training addressed two essential areas: systematic grievance management to ensure citizen voices are heard, and gender-based violence prevention, building on Plateau State’s leadership in establishing one of Nigeria’s few active Gender-Based Violence Women’s Commissions.
Achievements and Future Readiness
Under Governor Mutfwang’s leadership, NG-CARES Plateau has delivered over 50 kilometers of surfaced roads, enhanced food security initiatives, social transfers for vulnerable populations, and numerous community micro-projects.

As Phase 1.0 concludes, this Plateau State NG-CARES Training serves as crucial preparation for the competitive Phase 2.0 launch in January 2026. The comprehensive training demonstrates Plateau State’s commitment to maintaining its leadership position in NG-CARES implementation, ensuring every citizen feels heard, respected, and protected.
