In just two years, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has ushered in a new era of transformational leadership in Plateau State, defined by deliberate, people-centered governance and unprecedented development across all sectors.
Infrastructure has been a key focus, with over 40 strategic road projects completed and more ongoing across the state’s three senatorial zones. Major urban renewal efforts have modernized Jos-Bukuru and surrounding areas, including a new flyover, refurbished public buildings, and improved mobility.
Under the RAAMP and NG-CARES programs, over 100 rural roads have been constructed or rehabilitated, opening up remote communities and agricultural markets.
In water, energy, and sanitation, his administration rehabilitated water facilities, installed solar-powered boreholes, improved sanitation in rural communities, and initiated renewable energy projects including solar mini-grids in underserved areas.
In healthcare, Governor Mutfwang revamped the Plateau Specialist Hospital, recruited 22 top consultants, equipped general hospitals, activated over 200 PHCs, and enrolled over 208,000 residents in the state’s health insurance scheme, significantly improving maternal and child health outcomes.
Education reforms include a 50% tuition cut for indigenes in state institutions, clearance of staff salary arrears, scholarships for thousands, and the construction/renovation of 148 classroom blocks. Plans are underway to establish a medical faculty at Plateau State University.
In technology and governance, his administration digitized health records, launched youth digital skills programs for 100,000 beneficiaries, and improved internet and e-governance infrastructure.
Through economic and budget reforms, the government secured key international funding, enhanced transparency via budget publications, and engaged citizens in planning through town halls.
The Ministry of Justice under his leadership passed critical laws, handled over 1,200 civil and criminal cases, operationalized the Public Defender’s Office, and championed restorative justice through pardons and commutations.
Governor Mutfwang’s two-year scorecard reflects purposeful governance rooted in transparency, equity, and long-term sustainability. His impact is not only visible in physical projects but also in the renewed hope and unity among Plateau’s people.
