The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has officially commenced a strategic management retreat. It is themed “One Team, One Vision: Upholding Standards, Fostering Collaboration, and Delivering Results for a Thriving Health Insurance System.” The retreat is designed to strengthen internal capacity and reposition the agency. This is for enhanced service delivery and expanded access to healthcare across Plateau State.
Day One brought together key members of PLASCHEMA’s management team. It kicked off with an address by the Director General, Dr. Agabus Manasseh. In his opening remarks, Dr. Manasseh emphasized the importance of unity, innovation, and shared purpose in achieving the agency’s mission. He encouraged participants to approach the retreat with commitment and strategic intent. He also expressed gratitude to the resource persons for their expertise and contributions.
One of the keynote sessions was delivered by Mr. David Daser, President/CEO of the Digital Bridge Institute, Abuja. Speaking on “Harnessing Innovation and Technology to Transform Health Insurance Delivery,” Mr. Daser highlighted the critical role of digital tools and data in improving enrollee experience and operational efficiency. He urged PLASCHEMA to prioritize technological advancement as a pathway to a more sustainable and people-centered health insurance system.
In another impactful presentation, Mr. Uche Eze, Team Lead of the Social Health Insurance Assessment Unit at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Abuja, spoke on “Blueprint for Success: Building Smart Health Insurance Strategies.” He shared actionable insights into adaptive models for financing healthcare particularly for the informal sector and vulnerable groups and encouraged PLASCHEMA to implement responsive and resilient strategies tailored to Plateau State’s unique needs.
The day concluded with a courtesy visit to the Director General/CEO of the NHIA, Dr. Kelechi Ohiri. During the meeting, Dr. Ohiri praised the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his steadfast commitment to strengthening health systems in the State. He also lauded PLASCHEMA’s progress under Dr. Manasseh’s leadership, describing it as a bold and commendable drive towards achieving universal health coverage.
The retreat continues in the coming days with more interactive sessions focused on enhancing performance, fostering teamwork, and strategically implementing health insurance policies to reach every corner of the State.
