GUESS THAT TRIBE: WEEKEND FEASTS EDITION

Plateau weekends are made of food, laughter, and stories that taste as rich as the land itself. Each tribe has its flavor, its way of turning grain, tuber, or fruit into something more than a meal—a memory, a bond, a celebration.

Can you catch the clues on your tongue? Let’s play again. Guess that Tribe!

Riddle #1
When the drums call in Bokkos hills, we gather with laughter and song. Our pot holds Bibal, a meal too special for ordinary days. At festivals it shines, feeding not just the body, but the bond of kin. Guess that Tribe!

Riddle #2
I feast when the spirits are near, my masquerades dance for blessings. For seven days in August we cook: tokda steams, kwakil fills the pot, and kut foams in every calabash. To us, food is not just eaten; it is an offering, a prayer, a bond. Guess that Tribe!

Riddle #3
Fonio is my treasure, tuwon acha my pride, served steaming with tok lehnden, the sesame leaf soup of our hearth. At weddings, bhisih, a delicacy for the bold. Festivals bring ngup and kunu to the calabash, mos or palm wine flows till the drums grow quiet. Guess that Tribe!

Riddle #4
On our hillsides, tall stalks sway, their grains ground fine for the meal we love. We mold it firm, tuwo for the calabash, then pour a soup of groundnut’s richness, brightened with the tang of Yakwa leaves. A feast of warmth, a taste of home. Guess that Tribe!

Riddle #5
We gather with songs, our feasts take flight, with Mwai, Bwaat Lyat, and Shaii Angilong in sight. Our baskets hold plenty, our hearths glow warm, community and culture in every form. Guess that Tribe!
