As Former Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma Graces Empowerment Outreach in Jos

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has joined countless well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond to celebrate the birthday of the Chairman of Stanel Group, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu.

Speaking at the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation Outreach Programme held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Jos, Governor Mutfwang lauded Dr. Uzochukwu’s decision to mark his birthday by empowering widows, orphans, and vulnerable persons a gesture he described as a profound act of compassion and service to humanity.

Represented at the event, the Governor reaffirmed the Plateau State Government’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation to pursue shared humanitarian and development objectives across the state.

The high-impact outreach was attended by several dignitaries, including the former President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, who was warmly welcomed as a symbol of pan-African solidarity and friendship with Plateau State.

During the outreach, critical items including sewing machines, grinding machines, food supplies, and wheelchairs for persons with disabilities were distributed to hundreds of beneficiaries. Governor Mutfwang, visibly moved by the scale of the intervention, praised Dr. Uzochukwu for his unwavering commitment to his roots and for meaningfully investing in the lives of others.

“I am always inspired by those whose deepest desire is to improve the lives of others,” Governor Mutfwang said. “Dr. Uzochukwu, you have not only reached out to the less privileged, but you’ve also touched the heart of God, who is ever moved by acts of compassion.”

He described the initiative as a “divine covenant act,” underscoring both its spiritual significance and social value. He urged the beneficiaries to embrace the empowerment as a seed of transformation and to extend the same kindness to others.

“You have chosen to remember where your story began, and for this, Plateau is grateful. This is your home we count you among us,” he added.

Governor Mutfwang reiterated the state’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with the Foundation:

“We will collaborate with you in every way possible to touch more lives. Your vision aligns perfectly with our administration’s development priorities, and we are committed to amplifying its impact.”

In his goodwill message, former President Ernest Bai Koroma hailed the outreach as a powerful demonstration of love, compassion, and leadership. He called on Africans to embrace a culture of giving as a critical strategy to tackle poverty and build inclusive communities.

“The greatest power we possess as a continent is the power to lift one another,” he said. “Today is a great day for Plateau and for the thousands of beneficiaries whose lives are being transformed. Supporting 15,000 widows, the disabled, and providing safe spaces for orphans to learn and grow this is true leadership.”

He particularly praised Dr. Uzochukwu for his decision to host orphans in his own home, calling it a rare act of selflessness:

“You’ve made a personal sacrifice by opening your doors to these children. Only God can reward such generosity.”

Reflecting on the journey of his foundation, Dr. Uzochukwu recounted its humble beginnings over 15 years ago. He shared that over 15,000 widows and thousands of orphans have benefitted through scholarships and skills training under the Foundation’s education and livelihood initiatives.

“This empowerment today is my thanksgiving offering to God for His faithfulness,” he said. “I’ve chosen to celebrate my birthday not with fanfare, but by giving back to God and society.”

The event concluded with the commissioning of a newly built Outreach Home in Gada Biyu further establishing Plateau State as a beacon of humanitarian impact in Nigeria.
