CYCLING: Plateau’s Ringnan Rejoice Invited to International Training Camp in Kenya

Plateau State cyclist Ringnan Rejoice has received an invitation to participate in an international training camp in Kenya ahead of the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics.

The 18-year-old cyclist was invited through a partnership involving the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to attend the CAC Road African Championship training camp scheduled for October 1 to 25, 2026.

The camp is part of preparations for the road cycling competition at the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics and is aimed at improving the performance and readiness of African riders at both continental and Olympic levels.

Rejoice earned the opportunity following her impressive performance at the African Track Cycling Championship held in Abuja in May, where she won a gold medal in the Team Pursuit event.

She is the only female cyclist representing Nigeria at the training camp in Kenya.

Ahead of her departure, Rejoice received support from the Plateau State Director of Sports, Prof. Ezra Gunen, who provided financial assistance to facilitate her local preparations.

She also received logistical support from Coach Bash, the Technical Director of the Cycling Federation, who assisted with her preparations and provided a new bicycle for her participation in the camp.

Rejoice has since departed Nigeria for Kenya, where she will join other African riders for the training programme.
