Plateau State News Today: Plateau United’s Evolution, Preseason To Match Day 12

On Plateau State news today, Plateau United FC is having a football match with Bendel Insurance FC by 4pm (WAT) today, November 11, 2025. Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2025/26 season began with major administrative and technical overhauls for Plateau United with changes that signaled a bold new direction for the club.

Before a ball was even kicked, the Plateau State Government initiated a restructuring exercise that saw Coach Mbwas Mangut replaced by the tactically sharp Coach Shola Adegun, while Habila Hosea Mutla made way for Barr Gideon Izang, now serving under a revamped title of Sporting Director of Plateau United.

The move, announced through a press release from the Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel Nanchang Jatau, marked the beginning of a fresh era aimed at restoring efficiency, professionalism, and ambition to one of Nigeria’s most passionate football sides in line with ‘The Time Is Now Mantra’ of the visionary Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s led administration.

The team’s rebuilding process took shape during the Gusau Preseason Tournament in Lafia, Nasarawa State. True to the saying that “perfect preparation prevents poor performance,” the Peace Boys, as they are fondly known, showcased tactical discipline and defensive solidity going through the competition without conceding a goal until the final, where they narrowly lost to Kano Pillars.

That impressive preseason run offered a glimpse of the new Plateau United anchored on compact, organized, and hungry.

However, the start of the league season brought early challenges. On Matchday 1, an unfortunate mix of injuries and last-minute registration hitches forced Coach Adegun to field a makeshift squad against Katsina United, resulting in an unexpected home defeat.

It was a difficult introduction for the new technical crew, prompting murmurs of doubt from a few corners. Yet, what followed proved that the team’s early struggles were merely the beginning of a larger transformation.

From that point onward, Plateau United began to grow steadily in confidence and cohesion. Under Adegun’s guidance, they found their rhythm. This balances defensive organization with attacking fluidity.

The team produced inspired performances, defeating the defending champions Remo Stars, overpowering El-Kanemi Warriors, dispatching Barau FC. They hold their own against the formidable Enyimba International FC, three times CAF Champions League winner.
Each of these matches revealed a group rediscovering its identity, combining flair with work ethic, and turning the Jos International Stadium into a cauldron of noise and belief.

Their record at home speaks volumes. In the ongoing 2025/26 campaign, Plateau United have registered four wins, no draws, and one loss in Jos, averaging an impressive 2.40 points per home match. The numbers underline their growing dominance at home, a stadium that is quickly becoming a fortress once again.
Across all 11 games played, they’ve posted four wins and seven losses, averaging 1.09 points per match overall, suggesting that while their home form has been exceptional, consistency away from Jos remains the next step in their evolution.

Matchday 12 Preview: Plateau United vs Bendel Insurance

On Plateau State News Today, as Matchday 12 approaches, optimism around the ‘Mutfwang’s Boys’ camp is balanced with realism. Coach Adegun and his staff have used every setback as a lesson, refining their tactics and solidifying team chemistry.

The club’s reorganization under Sporting Director Gideon Izang by the sports-loving State Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has also begun to bear fruit. From improved recruitment that saw Tarabina replaced the aging Daniel Itodo with thunderous thrown in that guarantees 80% scoring chances and matchday coordination to a renewed sense of professionalism off the pitch.

Plateau United now play with purpose, compact at the back. Thanks to the new-look defense line of Mustapha, Harrison, Amietimi and Tarabina, a reliable Favour Bala in goal, composed in possession in midfield spearheaded by Gift, Jonathan and Vincent Temitope, and increasingly ruthless in the final third due to the lethal form of Gideon, Saka and Kazeem.

Their recent performances have rekindled the confidence of fans and restored the belief that Jos once had in its team. If they can maintain their defensive discipline and translate their home energy into away strides, the Peace Boys look poised to extend their resurgence and push higher up the NPFL standings.

Ultimately, the story of Plateau United so far is one of resilience, reinvention, and rebirth. From preseason restructuring to overcoming early adversity, the club has rediscovered its pulse.

Whether or not the results continue to favour them, one thing is clear, the Mutfwang Boys have reclaimed their fighting spirit and reminded Nigeria that Jos remains a proud football city.
