Peace Boys Break Through with First Season Win

Plateau United finally got their season up and running with a deserved 2–0 triumph over Remo Stars in Jos on match week four.

Coach Sola Adegun made his intentions clear by setting up his side on the front foot and handing goalkeeper Favour Bala a debut start. Bala rewarded that trust with a composed display and a clean sheet.

The first half offered little between the two teams. Despite efforts from Kazeem Adeyanju, Vincent Temitope, and Chinemerem Collins, United couldn’t find a way past a stubborn Remo defense.

Things shifted after the restart. Adegun’s decision to bring on Saka Gafar added fresh energy in attack. The breakthrough arrived in the 63rd minute when Temitope whipped in a perfect cross that Tarabina Gwote powered home with a header.

United pushed to extend the lead, with Gafar rattling the crossbar and substitutes Mafeng Pam and Maren Kefas keeping the tempo high in midfield. Remo’s resistance was finally broken when defender Stanley Joseph saw red for a last-man challenge late on.

From there, United sealed the points. Substitute Jonathan Okechukwu’s blistering free kick forced a save, and Pam reacted quickest to fire in the rebound for 2–0.

With the win, Plateau United climbed off the foot of the NPFL table and gave their fans plenty to cheer. The Peace Boys will return to the New Jos Stadium in two weeks when Kwara United come visiting after their continental engagement.
