Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on Friday visited Plateau United Football Club at the Zaria Road Stadium in Jos to encourage the players after recent setbacks. His visit signaled the government’s determination to restore confidence in the team and keep supporters united behind them.

The Governor warned that internal wrangling and distractions could derail the club’s progress and urged everyone connected with Plateau United to put the team first. He stressed that his administration takes the matter seriously and would not allow divisions to weaken the club’s chances.
“All the backbiting, all the backstabbing, all the sabotage is very distracting,” he said. I know that Plateau United means very well for Plateau people, so we’re not going to joke with it. We take this matter very seriously, that’s why I’m here today. We encourage the team, focus on your training, football is about teamwork.”

He also praised the team’s effort in their last away game in Enugu and promised to tackle the challenges they face. “You are a talented group of players. Though you’ve conceded some goals, do not let that define you or hinder your progress. Remember, you are playing for yourselves, for the badge you wear, for Plateau State, and for the supporters who believe in you. The best is yet to come.”

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed the government’s support and personally promised extra match bonuses to motivate the players. He called on fans to unite behind the club, saying, “Every lover of Plateau United must join hands to support this team. Distractions and divisions must be set aside.”
Responding, team captain Albert Hilary thanked the Governor for his visit and assured him that the players would work hard to make the state proud.
Plateau United have lost their first three games of the NPFL season and will face Remo Stars on Sunday.
