In a step to reform transport revenue collection, the Plateau State Government, through the Ministry of Transport, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Giopat DC, a digital solutions company, to introduce a structured daily ticketing system across the state’s transport sector.

The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Jos, marks a major stride toward curbing revenue leakages, eliminating illegal collections, and enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in levy collection.
Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Jatau Gyang, hailed the partnership as a key component of the state’s broader transport reforms, emphasizing its role in modernizing and streamlining revenue processes while ensuring commuter safety.

According to him, the daily ticketing system will provide a single, verifiable ticket for operators, enable real-time revenue monitoring, remove unauthorized levies, improve working conditions, and generate accurate data for transport planning. He noted that the initiative is expected to boost internally generated revenue (IGR) and bring order to the sector.

Chief Laiser of ITTMS Giopat DC Limited, Salisu Muhammad Abdulsalam, described the deal as timely and strategic, pledging to deliver value through innovative technology and effective revenue management. He revealed that over 8,000 tricycle riders have already been enrolled and called for closer collaboration with the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) and the Ministry to ensure seamless rollout.

From the legal perspective, Siman Luka Esq. of the Ministry of Justice explained that the MoU establishes a formal partnership to block leakages and increase the state’s income base, expressing optimism about its measurable benefits.
Hon. Jatau extended gratitude to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his support, commending the Ministry’s staff and Giopat DC for their commitment. “This MoU signals a new era in Plateau’s transport revenue management. Together government, partners, and operators we can build a disciplined, transparent, and efficient system that works for all,” he concluded.
The daily ticketing system takes effect immediately.
