Plateau Government Reinforces Commitment to Youth Engagement Through NYSC

The Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, has called for continued and unwavering support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme across Nigeria.

Chief Usman made this appeal while commissioning a photostand constructed by corps members serving at the ministry’s headquarters in Jos. He praised the NYSC as a vital platform for national unity and youth development, and urged government ministries and agencies to provide enabling environments for corps members to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

He further assured that the Plateau State Government remains committed to recognizing and rewarding hardworking corps members posted to the state. “We believe corps members will continue to make significant impact in this ministry and beyond,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, Mr. Nichola Kemi Nshe who represented the Association of Local Government Chairmen commended the role of corps members in community development. He described Plateau State as one of the safest in Nigeria and encouraged corps members to act as ambassadors for peace and unity.

He also pledged improved welfare and support for NYSC members across the state.

The Plateau State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Yavala, expressed appreciation to the state government for its support, especially in areas of corps members’ welfare and security. He also commended the recent rehabilitation of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Mangu.

In his remarks, the Corps Liaison Officer at the ministry, Simon Shaddrech, thanked the ministry’s leadership for creating a supportive and enabling environment for corps members to thrive.

The highlight of the event was the formal commissioning of the photostand by the Commissioner, symbolizing a lasting legacy of the corps members’ service and creativity.
