Plateau Governor Hosts Media Chat, Highlights Security Gains and Economic Growth

In a strategic move to deepen collaboration with the media, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang convened a high-level media engagement session with representatives from the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Independent Publishers Association (PIPA), Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association (PLABOMA), and leading social media influencers.

The interactive forum served as a platform for the Governor to present a comprehensive update on his administration’s achievements, ongoing challenges, and roadmap for the future of Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang spotlighted notable gains in security, particularly through the activation of Operation Rainbow, a localized security initiative that has helped stabilize previously volatile areas. “We’ve reclaimed lost territories such as parts of Wase—and are now opening them up for investment,” he said.

Under the banner of The Time Is Now administration, the Governor emphasized progress in economic recovery. This includes clearing a salary backlog of over four months, implementing the new minimum wage, and introducing a revamped public transport system that has saved commuters an average of ₦39,000–₦50,000 monthly. “Our commitment is to ensure timely salary payments and meaningful economic impact for our people,” he stated.

Infrastructure development remains a top priority, with a focus on completing long-abandoned projects and initiating new ones. The Rwang Pam Township Stadium is undergoing remodeling to meet CAF standards, while work on the Zaria Road Stadium is expected to wrap up before year-end, allowing the state to once again host home matches.

Governor Mutfwang also highlighted advances in education and healthcare. More institutions are receiving accreditation and increased student admissions, while Plateau Hospital is seeing improvements through new departments and completed renovations. “We are determined to deliver quality education and healthcare that meet the needs of our citizens,” he affirmed.

The agricultural sector is receiving renewed attention, with investments in tissue culture labs, improved seed varieties, and livestock development. A modern abattoir and ranching facilities are underway, including the use of Fraizian cattle to boost milk production. “We envision Plateau as a key player in food production nationally,” the Governor said.

On governance, Mutfwang restated his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and measurable impact. “We are building a new Plateau State together, and every stakeholder has a role to play in this journey,” he concluded.

With a strong focus on security, economy, infrastructure, and institutional reform, Governor Mutfwang’s leadership continues to position Plateau State as an emerging force in Nigeria’s development landscape.
