Plateau United secured their place in the final of the Plateau State Federation Cup with a professional 2–0 victory over Mighty Jets Feeders in a physical semi-final encounter.
It was a game filled with tough challenges and intense battles across the pitch, but the Peace Boys showed composure and quality in key moments to get the job done.
Sadiq Yusuf came close early on, forcing two saves from Jets goalkeeper Hassan Hassan, as Plateau United showed attacking intent from the start.
Mighty Jets Feeders also threatened and nearly went ahead in the 28th minute, but a header from Bassey Imoh struck the woodwork.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Jonathan Okechukwu unleashed a powerful long-range strike that beat the goalkeeper to give Plateau United the lead.
The momentum continued, and in the 40th minute, Dawa Victor doubled the advantage with a well-taken finish, putting the Peace Boys firmly in control before the break.
The second half remained physical, with strong tackles and a few stoppages disrupting the flow of the game. Amah John produced a key save in the 55th minute to keep the clean sheet intact, while the defence stayed organised under pressure.
Mighty Jets Feeders hit the woodwork again and had a few late chances, but Plateau United remained disciplined and saw out the game comfortably.
A solid and mature performance from the Peace Boys, who handled the physical contest well and took their chances when it mattered.
Plateau United will face Mighty Jets International in the final at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday by 4pm , a different challenge from last season, when Plateau United defeated Mighty Jets International Feeders in the final, the same side they have just beaten in this semi-final.
Meanwhile, the women’s final will see Plateau United Queens take on Mighty Jets Mata on Sunday at 2pm.
