Plateau United were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw against Kun Khalifa on Sunday at the Jos Stadium, despite a strong response after going behind early and sustained pressure throughout the contest.
The Peace Boys created several chances, missed a penalty, and even had a goal ruled out for offside, but couldn’t find the winner in a tightly contested encounter.
FIRST HALF – EARLY SETBACK, STRONG RESPONSE
Plateau United started with intent but were dealt an early blow in the 6th minute as Kun Khalifa took the lead.
The response was immediate. The Peace Boys pushed forward, and in the 11th minute, they were handed a golden opportunity to level the score after Kazeem was brought down in the box. However, Vincent missed the penalty , keeping the visitors in front.
Plateau United continued to apply pressure. Jonathan came close with a header from a corner, while Dabani, Gideon, and Abdallah combined well in attacking areas but couldn’t find the final touch.
The breakthrough eventually came in the 41st minute. Farouk Umar delivered a well-timed assist to Dabani Alao, who finished confidently to bring Plateau United back on level terms.
Dabani nearly turned the game around moments later, but his effort hit the side netting as both sides went into the break at 1–1.
SECOND HALF – PRESSURE WITHOUT A WINNER
The second half saw Plateau United push for a winner, controlling large spells and creating openings.
Chances came through Vincent, Kazeem, and later substitutes Ossy, Aboh, and Chukwuma, but clear-cut opportunities were limited as Kun Khalifa stayed compact.
The Peace Boys thought they had taken the lead in the 78th minute when Wisdom Ndon headed home from a set piece, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Late pressure followed. Saka forced a corner, Dawa delivered dangerous balls into the box, and Aboh saw an effort blocked in stoppage time. Jonathan also won a late free-kick in a promising area, but the final delivery was dealt with.
Kun Khalifa slowed the game down in the closing minutes, and despite four minutes of added time, Plateau United couldn’t find a way through.

Plateau United remain 8th on the table with 47 points, Seven points above Kun Khalifa, who sit 17th.points.
