Plateau United produced a dominant second half display to defeat Ikorodu City 4–1 and climb to 8th on the Nigerian Premier Football League table thanks to Kazeem Adeyanju’s brilliant introduction.
The match, played in Lafia, Nasarawa State,Plateau United’s temporary home ground started with the hosts in control but lacking the finishing touch.
Despite creating chances and dictating the tempo, they were unable to break the deadlock as the first half ended goalless.
KAZEEM ADEYANJU’S SECOND HALF INTRODUCTION
The game changed immediately after the break. Kazeem Adeyanju, introduced as a substitute, made an instant impact by opening the scoring in the 50th minute. His goal finally gave Plateau United the breakthrough their first half dominance deserved.
Adeyanju wasn’t done. He went on to provide two assists for Ossy Martins, who doubled Plateau’s lead in the 71st minute with a composed finish.
Ikorodu City responded in the 80th minute, pulling one back to make it 2–1 and briefly threatening a comeback. But Plateau United remained calm under pressure.
Ossy Martins restored the two-goal cushion in the 88th minute, completing his brace after another contribution involving Adeyanju.
Moments later, Dawa Victor capped off a brilliant team performance with a 90th minute goal to seal a convincing 4–1 victory for the Peace boys.
It was a game defined by one man’s influence off the bench. Adeyanju’s goal, creativity, and overall involvement turned a frustrating contest into a commanding win.
Plateau United will now turn their focus to a crucial clash against Rivers United, who sit second on the log on the same points with Rangers FC. With momentum on their side, the Peace boys will be confident of getting a result. They will then face bottom placed Kun Khalifat at home before travelling for difficult away fixtures against Warri Wolves and Nasarawa United.
This run of games could play a key role in shaping their push for a top finish this season.
